It’s going to be an Alien heavy day here, I guess! We just posted that Ridley Scott might be thinking about revealing the origin of the Xenomorph in the course of the upcoming Prometheus sequels and now Variety is saying that Scott is in the final stages of revising the Alien: Paradise Lost script, which will begin shooting in February.
Scott also told the site, “[The Alien’s] role had been worn out in previous films, but one of the questions that had never been answered was why such a creature would be invented, and by whom. That opens much larger, more universal questions.”
Additionally, Damon Lindelof recently opened up to THR about the original script for Prometheus, which was apparently originally called Alien Zero. The story was far more in line with the Xenomorph universe that we have come to know and love over the course of several movies, including, “…facehuggers, and xenomorphs, and eggs, in the language of that movie, by page 30.”
Interestingly enough, the script also had a David-esque character, an android that joined the humans on their mission to find their creators (also a plot point kept in the original script). Lindelof explains that the android was, “…not impressed by his creators. The android, he’s the smartest guy in the room,” which sounds an awful lot like David and the actions that he took.
