A Man Died During the Filming of ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’

As if Olivia Jackson, the stuntwoman who was severely injured during filming, wasn’t enough, IOL is reporting that a 34-year-old man who was working on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter died after sustaining traumatic injuries on set.

The news was posted a few days ago but Ricardo Cornelius died on December 3rd after a US army issue Hummer, one of the film’s many props, fell on him. According to the site, “…Ricardo and other crew members had to manually rotate a small platform upon which the vehicle stood, but the platform tilted and the huge vehicle fell on him.

Cornelius was rushed to the hospital and put on life support after extensive operations, which included him necessitating resuscitation at one point, only to see him pass several hours later with his family by his side. Cornelius’ wife, Shafiefa, is obviously distraught and heartbroken as the pair hadn’t even been married one year.

More information about the accident can be read here.

What an absolutely terrible loss. I can only hope that events such as these cause the industry to raise their standards. No movie is worth the loss of a life or the injury of a cast/crew member.
