“Stranger Things” Ruled Halloween This Year; Check Out Some Awesome Costumes!
They look pretty. Good. They look pretty good.
Well before anyone even started prepping for Halloween, fans across the country had already begun dressing up as their favorite characters from this past summer’s Netflix series “Stranger Things.” In fact, we collected together some of our favorite “Stranger Things” cosplay back in August. But Halloween, well, it was absolutely dominated by the show.
If you attended any Halloween parties this year, you surely came across a handful of mega-fans dressed up as beloved characters like Eleven, Dustin, and Barb. I spent Halloween night at a bar that was filled almost exclusively with people cosplaying as characters and even specific props and moments from the show, and I’ve gotta say, it was really cool to see that something so new has already become so iconic. The series has been criticized for being little more than an homage to the past, but it sure has created a vast amount of new iconography here in the present.
Of course, it would be impossible to highlight all the “Stranger Things” costumes that made this year’s Halloween feel so very ’80s, but we wanted to at least scour Imgur and pluck out some choice selections. So below you’ll find some of our favorite “Stranger Things” costumes we’ve come across, all of which should put a smile on your face.
Bring on Season 2, Netflix!
And perhaps the most impressive costume of all…

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
