Spielberg’s ‘Hook’ Reimagined as a Slasher Film

Steven Spielberg’s Hook (1991) is a special kind of film, being that it’s equally as bad as it’s good. I loathe every. single. scene. with Dustin Hoffman as the title character. On the other hand, it’s one of Robin Williams’ most memorable performances. The movie barely works, and there’s a single reason for this: the bookends take place in the real world. And that’s where this new trailer mix knocks it out of the park.

This YouTube video imagines Spielberg’s film as a slasher, turning Hook into the boogeyman. The bulk of footage is pulled from the opening and closing of the film, which takes place in Peter’s home. With a smart selection of dialogue, the result is a trailer that depicts a family being stalked by a vicious killer with a hook for a hand. Eat your heart out, I Know What You Did Last Summer.
