Mattel Teasing ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ Monster High Doll for Release Next Week
Mattel’s Monster High line was originally dedicated to dolls based on classic monsters like Frankenstein and Dracula, but in recent years has grown to include all kinds of modern icons.
The “Skullector” line of Mattel’s Monster High brand has been dedicated to these for-collectors dolls including the Grady Twins from The Shining, H.G. Giger’s Xenomorph from Alien, and even Lupita Nyong’o’s two characters from Jordan Peele horror movie Us.
Up next? A Monster High doll based on Killer Klowns from Outer Space!
Mattel has taken to social media to tease their upcoming Killer Klowns x Monster High collaboration, which will be available from Amazon and Mattel Creations on Friday, May 15.
Mattel previews, “WATCH OUT: ALIEN INVASION INCOMING. The circus comes to town 5/15.”
The doll is reportedly based on Killer Klowns from Outer Space character Shorty (seen above), who has become the most iconic Klown from the 1980s horror-comedy cult classic.
Directed by the Chiodo Brothers, Killer Klowns has surprisingly become a merchandising powerhouse in recent years, with all kinds of collectibles and a Halloween Horror Nights house.
The one thing we still haven’t gotten, despite the modern popularity of the brand? Another Killer Klowns from Outer Space movie, which has been rumored for as long as I can remember.
The Chiodo Brothers have been trying to get a franchise continuation off the ground since way back in the late 1980s when the original movie came out. Stephen Chiodo had explained back in 2021, “We have been trying to get the sequel going since 1988. And Hollywood is just a horrible machine. The film didn’t really get much box office… and when you want to get a sequel done, they look at the box office. They don’t regard cult films as something to invest in.”
He continued, “We have this whole long trilogy – something we call a trilogy in four parts because we include the original – a TV series for cable [or] streaming. It follows the adventures of all the characters as they go through their lives, crushed after the first invasion. It would make a great mini-series. So we’re constantly selling that for people who are interested.”
We did, however, get a video game a few years back. It’s a start!

Speaking of official Obsession collectibles, the Focus Features shop is currently selling the One Wish Willow popcorn bucket along with a candle, hoodie, t-shirts, stickers and more.
There’s also an official One Wish Willow replica toy, but that’s been an almost instant sell out every time it’s been put up for grabs. At the moment, it’s still currently sold out.
