The third season of “Stranger Things” aims to be the darkest season to date, set during the Summer of ’85. It’s expected to arrive on Netflix in the Summer of 2019, and brand new book Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-the-Scenes Companion teases some new Season 3 details while we (impatiently) wait for the first trailer.
Relayed by Screen Rant, creators the Duffer Brothers reveal some of their Season 3 influences in the book, which include George Romero, David Cronenberg and John Carpenter’s The Thing.
Ross Duffer notes in the book…
“There are horror movies and horror masters that we haven’t really paid tribute to as much in previous seasons that we are definitely going to get into this season.”
The book also teases that Season 2’s Mind Flayer will be making its return in Season 3, presumably in addition to a “new evil” that had been teased several months back.
