To the surprise of no one, Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5, like Resident Evil 2 earlier this year, claimed the top spot on the UK games physical sales chart. While there aren’t exact numbers for the number of units sold, the fact that the game outperformed the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Anthem is impressive.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, the return of Dante performed best on the PlayStation 4, with Sony’s console accounting for 80% of the physical sales.
DMC 5 also equals (and probably exceeds) the first week performance of the previous game in the series, dMc: Devil May Cry, which also hit number one when it was released. This is also on top of Devil May Cry 5 being Capcom’s second-biggest PC release of all time (behind Monster Hunter: World).
Of course, the next question is where does Capcom go from here? With Monster Hunter: World‘s Iceborne expansion coming later this fall, and with Resident Evil 2 getting more DLC, does this mean that we’ll be seeing Devil May Cry 5 DLC after Capcom nixed the idea?
