‘Devil May Cry 5’ Ships 2 Million Copies in First Two Weeks of Release
After becoming Capcom’s second-biggest PC debut and debuting at number one in the charts, is it any surprise that Devil May Cry 5 is a success? Capcom has confirmed that the game has shipped over 2 million units worldwide since its release on March 8. That is presumably across all platforms.
To put that in perspective: The previous Devil May Cry game, DmC: Devil May Cry, has so far sold 2.4 million units since its 2013 release. It won’t take much for DMC 5 to eclipse that.
Still, it’s worth it to keep in mind that 2 million units “shipped” is different from 2 million “copies sold”. It’s not known yet exactly just how many people have actually bought Devil May Cry 5, but when taking into account these shipment numbers, along with the digital sales, it’s a given that 2 million copies have been sold.
And yes, this brings up the whole post-launch DLC thing again. Sure, Bloody Palace Mode is coming as free DLC on April 1st, but would Capcom decide to give fans more with the game given its success? 2 million isn’t something to sneeze at.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
