‘Bloodborne’-inspired ‘Nightmare Kart’ Available Now on Steam [Trailer]

Published

on

Lilith Walther‘s Bloodborne-inspired Nightmare Kart has finally been released on itch.io, with the racer already reaching over 15,000 downloads, according to 80 LVL. According to Lilith, the Steam version is still stuck in Valve’s approval process, but should be up soon. Either way, the game is free to play.

Nightmart Kart has already received a few updates to squash a few bugs, as well as tweak a few of the gameplay aspects.

What started out as an April Fool’s joke a few years back evolved into Bloodborne Kart, a kart racer involving the characters of FromSoftware’s PlayStation 4 hit Soulslike. Obviously, Sony caught wind of this, and asked Walther to remove the references to Bloodborne, resulting in the game being renamed Nightmare Kart.

The story for Nightmare Kart sees you as a beast hunter, conscripted against your will to participate in a most peculiar local custom: a tournament where participants race atop mysterious vehicles comprised of copper and steam.

Race through blood-soaked gothic streets atop one of 12 unique vehicles as you seek answers behind the origin of this nightmare. Wield powerful weapons to reduce your opponents to scrap, slaughter beasts to raise your top speed, perform tricks and drifts to generate Æther to boost, and overcome challenging boss encounters to unlock the secrets behind this terrible dream.

The game also features music by Evelyn “The Noble Demon” Lark (who also did the music for Walther’s Bloodborne PSX demake).
