Bloober Team finally revealed after two weeks of teasing that their next title is Layers of Fear 3. The expiring timer on the countdown website revealed a 10th anniversary video for the Layers of Fear series, culminating with the actual announcement trailer for Layers of Fear 3, entitled “The Sick Rose”.
While no details on this third game were revealed, Bloober Team did take the opportunity to drop a few announcements for fans of the series. For starters, the original game’s soundtrack by Arkadiusz Reikowski will be released on CD and vinyl for the first time later this year.
In addition, Bloober has announced a partnership with Foksal Publishing Group to expand the Layers of Fear universe in the form of two novels. “We are launching this project having both communities in mind — gamers and readers,” said Anna Dziewit-Meller, Editor In Chief at Foksal Publishing Group. “Anyone who wants to immerse deeper into their beloved stories is kindly invited.
The first book, which will be released at the end of the year, will be written by Martha Bian. “I’ve known Layers of Fear from the very beginning,” says Martha. “I bought the physical version of this game right after its release in 2016, and still have it. I’ve always been interested in fear that creeps quietly and lingers. And that’s exactly what Layers of Fear does. That’s why participating in a book project set in this universe felt very natural to me as an author and a fan.”
The latest game in the series, Layers of Fear: The Final Masterpiece Edition, which contains both the first game and its 2019 sequel, was released last December for the Nintendo Switch 2.
