Bigfoot movies may be one of the most difficult subgenres of horror to pull off. A lot of times filmmakers want to actually show the mythical beast and it’s difficult to make that look well. You’re either stuck with shoddy CGI or a cheap looking man-in-a-suit. This probably explains why we don’t get a ton Sasquatch-centric films, but whenever we do get one I enjoy checking them out. Especially if they go with the man-in-a-suit route because those tend to at least be fun. Director Todd Jenkins has decided to take on Bigfoot with his debut film Cherokee Creek.
Per the synopsis, Cherokee Creek is the story of a surprise bachelor party in the woods that takes a deadly turn when the ultimate party animal shows up and crashes it. I think we can safely assume the ultimate party animal, in this case, is Bigfoot and that seems pretty accurate because no one loves a party quite like bigfoot loves a party. Bloody Disgusting has received an exclusive look at the film and if there’s any lesson to be learned here it’s that one should never piss in bigfoot’s house.
What we can tell from this clip, aside from the piss bit, is that this is a man-in-a-suit flick and practical effects will be used. That’s exciting and more than enough to peak my interest.
Cherokee Creek will make its world premiere on July 26th in Dallas, Texas at the Angelika. The film stars Billy Blair, Nellie Sciutto, Terry Dale Parks and CG Lewis. The film was composed by John Massari.
