I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they’re excited for 20th Century Fox’s Ad Astra because it looks cool and it stars Brad Pitt, but are also confused as to what the hell it’s about. Well, the new and final IMAX trailer makes it abundantly clear.
Directed by James Grey, Pitt’s character is not only traveling to the outer edges of the solar system to find his father (Tommy Lee Jones), but he’s also there to resume the mission that’s tied to a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet.
In the trailer, Pitt’s character possibly reveals the mystery: “to stop an uncontrolled antimatter reaction that threatens our entire solar system.”
No matter what it’s about, Ad Astra looks spectacular and it should being that Grey worked with DP Hoyte van Hoytema to establish a look for the movie based on Kodak stock images from the Apollo 11 through 17 lunar missions.
