The trendy thing to do now seems to be to hate on Eli Roth. I’ve seen it all over Twitter, Facebook and even comments on this site. His last film, The Green Inferno was met with such vitriol across the internet that even I was taken by surprise. Is this the same man who was being lauded back in 2004 when Hostel was released? I was a freshman in high school back then and I swear that horror fans were saying he was going to revolutionize horror. Now, everyone seems to hate him. He’s become the internet equivalent of a punching bag and I sort of feel bad for the guy. I’ve never had a particular issue with Roth or his films (other than the amount of “bro-ness” present in them). With his newest film Knock, Knock hitting theaters on Friday, I thought I would take a look back on his filmography and provide an official* ranking of his directorial efforts.
*By official, I mean this is just my opinion and should not be taken as fact. I feel like this should go without saying, but after the comments I received on my Scream Queens post, a disclaimer is in order.
