‘Sinister’ Pulled From More Than 40 French Theaters Because…

It was reported via French press late last week that more than 40 French theaters had pulled the theatrical release of Scott Derrickson’s Sinister. Why? Distributor Wild Bunch blames Paranormal Activity 4 (also produced by Blumhouse) and more than a handful of despicable, disrespectful, ignorant and disgusting theatergoers. READ MORE

Three New Teasers For ‘Sinister’ Fuzz It Up A Bit

Summit just released three teasers from the upcoming Sinister and they’re actually kind of like the “American Horror Story” teasers in that the footage they show is heavily manipulated and not how it appears in the final product. Go see the movie, though I’m starting to worry that they’ve shared too much. You might want to skip these. READ MORE

[Interview] Producer Jason Blum Talks ‘Insidious 2′, ‘Paranormal Activity 5′, ‘Dark Skies’ And ‘The Purge’ At The Opening Of ‘Blumhouse Of Horrors’!

Last night I attended a preview of Jason Blum’s Los Angeles haunted attraction, “The Blumhouse Of Horrors”. While what I saw wasn’t 100% finished, it was certainly impressive. It’s not so much a maze as it is a building full of haunts, characters, magic and smoke. I took a guided tour, which is not a VIP thing, it’s how the attraction is meant to be experienced since your guides are pretty creepy as well. There’s a lot of cool stuff to see (and feel – I know BD alum Brian Collins even got zapped). There’s also a neat feature that had the claustrophobic in me absolutely reeling. If you live in LA, and are a fan of haunted houses, I certainly recommend it. READ MORE

[Random Cool] This ‘Sinister’ Mash-Up Might Be A Good Way To Introduce You To ‘Seven Psychopaths’

I love Seven Psychopaths. It’s not horror, it’s a crime comedy. But it is supremely gory. If you remember director Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges you know he doesn’t f*ck around. And, to put it crassly, this movie has a sh*tload more kills than that one (it’s also smart, funny and thoughtful). Thus, I feel like I can wholeheartedly recommend it to you. While it might not be scary, it’s certainly got more of the red stuff than most of the R-rated horror movies that have come out this year. I’ll fill you guys in with my review later this month. 5 Incredibly Unsettling Horror Images

One of Sinister‘s many strengths is its use of unsettling imagery. There are so many quick moments in the film that stick really with you. These moments are so deceptively simple that, on paper, they may not read as being incredibly striking. But their effect on the screen is undeniable. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you see the movie, some of the stuff in it is unshakeable! READ MORE
