AFM ’10: Sales Art for ‘Frontier(s)’ Director’s ‘The Divide’!

Published

on

Gearing up for sales at this week’s AFM is Xavier Gens’ The Divide, from the director of Frontier(s), and featuring the rockin’ cast of Michael Biehn (Aliens, Terminator), Milo Ventimiglia, Rosanna Arquette, Courtney B. Vance and Lauren German. Inside you’ll find the latest key art being displayed at the market in Santa Monica, CA. The pic is a post-apocalyptic thriller set mostly in an apartment building fallout shelter, a serial-killer thriller about a woman afflicted with “face blindness” and a coming-of-age story about a young girl seeking out her birth mother. German’s character is at the centre of the film, set in New York, which is virtually destroyed in a mysterious explosion in the first act. Eight survivors take refuge in the fallout shelter of an apartment building, where they are menaced first by mysterious men in HazMat suits and eventually by each other.Director Xavier Gens follows his $99 Million grossing ‘Hitman’ with THE DIVIDE – a high concept post-apocalyptic thriller that opens with pandemonium and a chaotic sprint towards the basement of a New York apartment building, just moments before the city outside is decimated…

When a cataclysmic explosion devastates New York, eight strangers take refuge in the basement of their apartment building, a converted fallout shelter designed by their paranoid superintendent Mickey. With just three connecting rooms it’s barely big enough, but with stockpiles of food and water, the group are at least safe from the horrors outside, and they settle in and attempt to fathom the catastrophe that has ended the lives of so many of their loved ones.

But suddenly men in HAZMAT suits storm their shelter and open fire. The strangers join forces in a desperate bid to take on this enemy, with no-one understanding what these HAZMATS are looking for, and what drives them to be so merciless.

With fatalities on both sides and the remaining HAZMATS temporarily pushed back and locked out, the worst is yet to come for the group. Cabin fever sets in as the perception of the shelter shifts from safe-haven to claustrophobic rat-trap. Fear of radiation-poisoning and dwindling supplies play on their minds, while the young, beautiful Eva has more immediate worries… Her fiancé Sam is weaker than the other males, who are slowly starting to regress into ruthless, violent, predators.

As tension mounts their sanctuary becomes a living hell, and with Sam powerless to protect Eva, she must rely on her wits to save herself from becoming the mercy of the pack in a thrilling final act.

With twists and turns throughout, and no way of knowing who will make it out alive, THE DIVIDE is an action packed psychological thriller that combines ‘Assault on Precinct 13’ with ‘Lord of the Flies’. To survive the end of the world, you first must survive each other…

Here’s an interesting one for you today. “Post Malone, Michael Bay and Brad Fuller’s Platinum Dunes, and Vault Comics have partnered to create an all-new IP universe based on an original story by the 8x diamond recording artist,” Bloody Disgusting has learned this afternoon.

What exactly does this mean? Well, the plan is for Vault Comics to launch this original genre story as a graphic novel in 2025, with Platinum Dunes developing the film adaptation.

The comic book/movie doesn’t yet have a title, but here’s what we know so far…

The official press release details today, “Blending elements of road thrillers like Mad Max: Fury Road, and demonic horror like Evil Dead, the story is set in medieval Europe, where the only thing standing in the way of the horde of demons infesting the continent is a mysterious armored 18-wheeler seemingly sent back from the heavens.”

“I’m so pumped to share this badass story with the world, and I couldn’t ask for better partners than Michael Bay and Vault to help bring this story to life,” Post Malone said in a statement.

“This is the kind of project you dream about,” said Vault CEO Damian Wassel. “We get to work with an exceptional artist at the top of his game to build a completely original story from the ground up. We have an iconic director helping to guide the creative development. We’re going to bring the world a mind-blowing graphic novel, and that’s just the beginning.”

“I love working with talented people, and Post Malone is incredibly gifted,” says Bay. “I am excited to work with him on such an intriguing idea, and when you add Vault to the mix, it raises the bar to another level. This new IP is just what the graphic world needs right now.”
