Turistas Directors Dark Tide Gets Home Video Date

While Wrekin Hill Entertainment and Lionsgate’s Dark Tide, leads off with a three-week Ultra VOD window on March 8th with a theatrical release on March 30th, culminating in a packaged media and Digital Download release, the shark thriller will head to home video on April 8. SHARK ALLEY!!!!

In the film from Turistas helmer John Stockwell, “Kate (Halle Berry), shark naturalist and documentarian, has been reluctant to re-enter the water since the tragic death of her mentor. Once renowned for swimming with Great White Sharks without the protection of a cage, Kate now spends her days giving mundane wildlife tours. However, the surprise arrival of her old partner and boyfriend, Jeff (Olivier Martinez), convinces her to face her inner demons and get back in the water with the fiercest of predators.”

Watch A Rich Asshole Beg For Death In Dark Tide Trailer

Lionsgate and Wrekin Hill Entertainment have released the full trailer for John Stockwell’s shark thriller Dark Tide, which features Halle Berry in a ridiculous role of a shark expert who’s drawn back to dark waters when a rich asshole decides he wants a close encounter with death.

Wrekin Hill acquired U.S. rights and will release the Halle Berry-Olivier Martinez action thriller on VOD, electronic sell-through and packaged media. The distribution plan leads off with a three-week Ultra VOD window on March 8th with a theatrical release on March 30th, culminating in a packaged media and Digital Download release.

After being picked up by Lionsgate and Wrekin Hill Entertainment, a pretty boring poster has premiered for John Stockwell’s shark thriller Dark Tide, which features Halle Berry and those berries that made her so famous. It looks like they’re selling it as a surf movie as opposed to a horror-thriller. And what’s with the tagline – “In Shark Alley, courage runs deep…” – what the hell does that even mean?

After failing to sell at Berlin and Cannes, John Stockwell’s shark thriller Dark Tide has finally been picked up by Lionsgate for a VOD/Theatrical release.

Per Deadline, “Lionsgate and Wrekin Hill Entertainment will go for a VOD first release after acquiring the John Stockwell-directed Halle Berry-Olivier Martinez action thriller Dark Tide. Wrekin Hill acquired U.S. rights and will release the film on VOD, electronic sell-through and packaged media. The distribution plan leads off with a three-week Ultra VOD window on March 8th with a theatrical release on March 30th, culminating in a packaged media and Digital Download release. “The star power that Halle Berry brings to Dark Tide paired with a genre that hits VOD audiences make it a perfect addition to our Ultra VOD strategy.” said Jim Packer, Lionsgate President of Worldwide Television and Digital Distribution.”

Halle Berry Takes Call for ‘The Hive’

CS is reporting that Joel Schumacher – hot off the heels of Trespass – has confirmed hopes of landing Halle Berry for the lead role in The Hive, his latest genre outing that centers on an emergency operator who must confront a killer from her past to save a young girl’s life. No other details were available.

Berry first entered the horror foray with Gothika for Warner Bros. back in 2003. It was her first role following her Oscar win. She can also be seen in the indie Dark Side alongside Olivier Martinez. John Stockwell directs the film that pits Berry against some vicious sharks.
