We covered Doomsday quite a bit on here due to it being directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers). However, if we’re being realistic, it’s not really a horror film. To be certain, there are some horror elements, such as cannibalism, viral infections, and a ton of badass gore. But the overall story isn’t really all focused in the horror genre. Instead, it’s more of an adventure thriller, something that wouldn’t be out of place at all in the Mad Max universe.
The main baddy Sol is ruthless, insane, and just absurdly entertaining to watch. He has no problem doing a little dance, a little jig, a little slap on the butt, and then carving up a guy and serving him for dinner. Honestly, what more could you want from a villain?
