3. ‘Scanners‘ – 1981 – Dir. David Cronenberg
David Cronenberg’s mind-blowing Scanners is one of the newer horror entries to hit Criterion’s lineup, coming out just about a year ago, but it didn’t take long to become one of the best. This release of Scanners is director approved with Cronenberg serving as the supervisor of the 2k restoration. I love when special features include earlier works from an established director and the Scanners release does exactly that, including a copy of Cronenberg’s first film, Stereo.
