2. ‘The Blob‘ – 1958 – Dir. Irvin Shortess Yeaworth Jr
I’ve actually gotten into arguments with friends who claim the original version of The Blob doesn’t hold up. I can only surmise that they have yet to see this beautiful release from Criterion. The Blob is classic drive-in material that I could watch over and over. I mean who doesn’t like witnessing the birth of a star in Steve McQueen? My favorite special feature on this release is a little something called ‘Blobsbilia!’ This is s gallery, which I usually don’t care for on Blu-rays, however, this particular gallery includes pictures from Wes Shank’s collection of posters, props and more from The Blob and I’m a sucker for old props and memorabilia.
