We Are Still Here (2015)
This one really flew under the radar this year, but it’s a refreshing throwback to classic 80s horror. What is even more refreshing is that it stars a cast of middle-aged actors and actresses (Tim Burton’s ex-partner Lisa Marie and Barbara Crampton from You’re Next and Re-Animator). The final 20 minutes are incredibly gory, too. My only issue with the film is that it could have been about 15 minutes longer, with that extended time devoted to the backstory of the supernatural presence.
