When it comes to home video releases Arrow Video is arguably the leader. About eight months ago I ranked what I consider to be the five best Blu-ray companies out there at the moment. When I wrote that I didn’t rank Arrow as number one. In hindsight that was probably a mistake. Which is not to say the companies I ranked ahead of Arrow aren’t great, because they are, but now that I’m more familiar with Arrow they seem to be the clear number one.
Their library is ever-expanding, especially since they made the movie to releasing region A Blu-rays in the US. The variety of what Arrow releases is one thing, but the strong selling point is the time and effort they put into each one. These days Arrow releases rank up there with the likes of Criterion, meaning the odds of them releasing something subpar are extremely low.
This got me thinking about what films I’d like to see receive the Arrow treatment. I’ve chosen five films and they’re not ranked in any particular order. As far as I know none of these films have received a Blu-ray release anywhere, though there could be some in the works that I don’t yet know about. I also don’t know who owns the rights for any of these films, so it may be impossible or super tricky for Arrow (or anyone) to get ahold of them, which likely explains why we haven’t had a release yet.
With that all said, let’s get to the list!
