Doom Asylum – 1987
If I’m being honest with myself, Doom Asylum is probably the most fun movie on this list and probably the one fans of Arrow would most like to see. It’s a completely ridiculous slasher from director Richard Friedman, who has one of the most interesting directing resumes you’ll find. This is one of Friedman’s earliest films and I think it’s a total riot.
A number of off-the-wall slashers have received exactly Blu-ray releases recently, a couple of which have come courtesy of Arrow (Blood Rage, The Mutilator). I think Doom Asylum fits in very nicely with those films, although I’m not sure it has quite the cult following, but perhaps that’s still to come. The film does feature a pretty large role from Kristin Davis which I would imagine would be some type of selling point.
If you haven’t seen the movie before I think the below clip will convince you that this does indeed need a Blu-ray release.
Synopsis:
A demented coroner uses autopsy equipment to kill off the teenagers who trespass on the long-abandoned asylum he inhabits. Filmed on location in an actual abandoned asylum.
Those are just a handful of the movies I’d love to see get a Blu-ray release sometime in the near future. There are many more that could be included. What are some films you’d love to see hit Blu-ray someday soon?
