Poltergeist (1982)
The Freelings really had it rough in Steven Spielberg’s Tobe Hooper’s Poltergeist, didn’t they? It was such a visceral experience that even as a viewer, you feel just about as exhausted as the characters did by the end of the movie. Watching Steven (Craig T. Nelson) kick the TV out of their motel room is probably what everyone watching Poltergeist wanted to do when they got home from the theater in 1982.
