Following its festival run, Gregor Schmidinger‘s debut feature Nevrland is being released this month by Wolfe Video, we’ve learned today, headed to streaming services on March 24.
The “dark, sexy, psychological coming-of-age drama” will be made available through WolfeOnDemand.com, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu and FandangoNOW.
“Nevrland is a story that crosses the realms of reality and fantasy as a young gay man, 17-year-old Jakob, uses a cam-chat site to connect with and meet other gay men around his age. When he connects with the seductive Kristjan, Jakob starts a journey of self discovery as he takes a “trip” to the fantasy world of Nevrland.”
“Jakob struggles with crippling anxiety. Jakob takes refuge in the Internet, where he meets 26-year-old artist Kristjan on a cam-chat site. Caught between reality and fantasy, youth and adulthood, Jakob’s blurry process of sexual awakening is a psychedelic trip of hot, strange hallucinatory sequences of desire and madness that will bring you to the edge of your seat.”
The press release states, “Neverland has gained significant praise from critics and audiences, noting the directorial debut of Gregor Schmidinger is in the vein of Dario Argento and Stanley Kubrick.”
Simon Früwirth stars alongside Paul Forman and Josef Hader.
