Spyglass Media Group is officially developing the eighth installment of the Scream franchise with writers Lilla & Nora Zuckerman, Deadline has learned.
The Zuckerman sisters most recently penned the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale” pilot, which Hulu passed on earlier this month.
The duo previously served as showrunners on Peacock’s “Poker Face” and worked as writers on the likes of “Suits,” “Fringe,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” and “Haven.”
The news comes as Scream 7 arrives on Digital today after crossing the $200 million mark the global box office, making Scream a billion-dollar franchise.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “There are enough thrills and chills injected, at least until its abysmal finale, to signal that there’s a faintly beating pulse buried somewhere under the mess.”
Scream 7 writer-director Kevin Williamson recently confirmed he had no plans to helm the next installment, so it’ll be interesting to get some new blood involved in the slasher saga.
