There Will Be Blood… – Saw: The Video Game
Remember when Konami wanted to turn Saw into the next big horror franchise? They even referred to it as a spiritual successor to Silent Hill, if you can believe it. That clearly didn’t happen.
There’s no denying that the Saw franchise is a mixed bag of clever deathtraps, plot twists, horrendous writing, and a cast of actors that range from extremely bad to Shawnee Smith. There’s a lot of style, but very little in terms of substance. Such is the nature of torture porn, a polarizing subgenre that usually comes with the singular goal of making people cringe.
Anyway, this isn’t about the films, this is about Saw: The Video Game.
Seeing as this is Bloody Disgusting, I don’t think I need to explain this one. Even if you haven’t played the game, it’s enough like the movies to give you a solid idea of what it has to offer. This is a series that spent a decade trying to come up with the absolute worst ways to kill people. This game deserves a spot on this list for the simple fact that the team behind it — Daylight developer Zombie Studios — wanted to have kills that were memorable enough to rival the films.
In that regard, they succeeded.
