Mattel revealed during their presentation at San Diego Comic-Con this afternoon that an action figure 2-pack of Chucky and Liv Morgan will be released this coming Halloween season!

The action figures of both Chucky and Liv Morgan look to feature a few different heads along with a knife accessory, allowing you to recreate Liv’s brutal murder at the hands of Chucky.

Just like she was in the series, Liv Morgan is dressed in Chucky-themed attire.

Morgan guest starred in “Chucky” Season 2, Episode 4, which was titled Death on Denial. “It’s a dream. I just want to be brutally murdered by Chucky,” she said at the time.

The Liv Morgan x Chucky set will be available from Mattel Creations in October!

Don’t expect the new film to pick up from where the series left off, Academy Award nominee Brad Dourif teased at the Creep I.E. Cinema panel hosted by Bloody Disgusting this weekend.

“If I know Don, I would say what he’s going to do is something completely different that I hadn’t thought of, that nobody had thought of,” the actor tells the audience.

It’s worth noting that the upcoming film is still in early development. So much so that Dourif has heard multiple different ideas for the ninth film in Mancini’s Chucky universe. “There is actually going to be another film made,” Dourif explains. “I’ve heard maybe three pitches —that’s not a detail, and I’m not saying what they are—but they’re all different.”

Emmy nominee Fiona Dourif was on hand to prevent her dad from spoiling any plot details, of course.

As we reported back in April, Don Mancini is aiming to make Chucky scary again in the brand new Chucky movie that will finally bring the (original) killer doll back to the big screen. Mancini’s plan is to return the franchise to the tone of Curse of Chucky as well as the first two original Child’s Play movies, once again dialing back the comedy and hijinks.

Creep I.E. Con, one of Southern California’s biggest horror themed conventions, returns for an Aftermath in 2026 — two months earlier than usual! This weekend, the Ontario Convention Center will house over 30 celebrity guests, 170 vendors, and all kinds of tricks and treats courtesy of Bloody Disgusting.

The main event is Saturday night at the Creep I.E. Cinema featuring a screening of 1988’s Child’s Play with stars Brad Dourif, this week’s Emmy-nominee Fiona Dourif, and Alex Vincent. Note: This is a separately ticketed event within the weekend, so be sure to secure your tickets for the screening and Q&A before they’re all gone.

Beyond the silver screen, Bloody Disgusting will also be hosting panels with stars of the Scary Movie franchise (Tori Spelling, Lochlyn Munro, Simon Rex, Jon Abrahams); return to Spooky World with David Bertolino; take a trip to Woodsboro with Hayden Panettiere; revisit Tales from the Crypt with John Kassir; and go toe to toe with Danny Trejo.

Brad Dourif played Charles Lee Ray in the flesh in the original Child’s Play and also voiced the iconic doll that houses the human serial killer’s evil spirit, a role he has continued to play throughout the franchise. Outside of the 2019 Child’s Play remake featuring Mark Hamill as Chucky, every other Chucky appearance in film and television has been voiced by Dourif.

And Dourif doesn’t plan on giving the character to anyone else anytime soon. He told the crowd at Spooky Empire in Orlando this past weekend, in fact, “Nobody’s doing Chucky but me.”

Does this mean Brad Dourif will be back to voice Chucky (at least) one more time in the brand new Chucky movie in the works from writer/director Don Mancini? It sure sounds like it!

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Don Mancini is not only writing the next Chucky feature film, but Mancini will also be directing Chucky’s big screen return.

What sets the Chucky franchise apart from other horror franchises is that Don Mancini has remained at the helm over the years, and the next movie is set to remain in continuity with the previous films as well as the three-season “Chucky” television series. Mancini himself has directed all the recent movies, including Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky.

His plan for the new movie? Mancini aims to make Chucky scary again, throwing back particularly to the tone of Curse of Chucky as well as the first two original Child’s Play movies.

The plan is to also bring this new Chucky movie to theaters, which would mark the original killer doll’s return to the big screen after 22(!) long years. Both Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky went direct-to-video, and they were followed by the “Chucky” series on USA & SYFY.

There are technically eight Child’s Play/Chucky movies at this time, counting the remake that exists in its own universe, and Mancini’s new movie will bring the franchise up to nine total movies. Only eight of them exist within the Don Mancini Chucky Universe, however.

Mancini also revealed that he’s developing a mysterious television series with Chucky franchise star Jennifer Tilly, and he’s even writing a new non-Chucky horror movie!

“I’m writing a new Chucky movie,” Mancini told the crowd. “I’m also trying to develop a new TV series with Jennifer Tilly. A friend of mine, his name is Laurent Bouzereau… so that’s something we’re developing with Jennifer. And I’m also writing a new non-Chucky horror movie.”

Mancini teases, “A haunted house story.”

We don’t have further details about either of these projects at this time, but we’ll report more as we learn it. In the meantime, here’s what we know about Mancini’s new Chucky script…

Don Mancini revealed at the con this weekend that he’s currently writing a new Chucky MOVIE, and the film will harken back to the approach of his 2013 film Curse of Chucky. The sixth installment in the franchise initially positioned itself as something of a full-on reboot before firmly connecting itself to the previous installments. It also brought back the horror vibes of the original Child’s Play movies, while the more campy and comedic aspects of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky weren’t fully embraced again until the Chucky TV series.

Don Mancini directed both Curse of Chucky and 2017’s Cult of Chucky, both of which paved the way for the three season television series. There was a remake of the original Child’s Play crammed in there around the same time, but Mancini had nothing to do with that one.

According to Mancini’s comments at Steel City, his next Chucky movie will not only throw back to those Curse of Chucky franchise reset vibes, but the plan is for the movie to also connect itself to the events of the television series and previous movies. Mancini is big on continuity, with all of his movies and the show existing in an impressively connected single timeline.

Bloody Disgusting can confirm all of these details, while also noting that we’ve heard Mancini’s intention with the new Chucky movie is to make it SCARY, throwing back particularly to the tone of Curse of Chucky as well as the first two original Child’s Play movies. Jennifer Tilly, who plays both Chucky’s muse Tiffany Valentine and a fictionalized version of herself in the franchise, has confirmed that a new Chucky project is in the works.

“The television series just ended, but I know for a fact there is more Chucky and Tiffany in the works,” Tilly told ET. “The gruesome twosome.”

It remains to be seen what form the latest installment will take — another feature, perhaps? — but Chucky is a rare horror icon whose original continuity remains intact.

Don Mancini has been the driving creative force behind the franchise since it began in 1988, shepherding it from theatrical to direct-to-video to television, even with a Hollywood remake in between.

Following the show’s cancellation, Mancini posted, “The Chucky franchise has always prioritized story continuity, across different media, for decades. You WILL see your favorites again.”

Tilly can currently be seen in Season 3 of Paramount+’s “School Spirits.”

The actress played fan favorite Kyle in Child’s Play 2, a role she briefly reprised in the post-credits scene of Cult Chucky before returning in the “Chucky” TV series.

While the show was cancelled after three seasons last year, Elise is confident we haven’t seen the last of the killer doll.

“The show is genuinely great. I think three seasons of the show, collectively, are better than the seven movies that preceded,” Elise told me at a screening of Child’s Play 2 in Boston last night.

“Don Mancini just let loose with eight hours of content three years in a row. I think that’s unparalleled entertainment. He’s got great taste in people and an incredible affection for cinema. He’s a cinephile; just a machine brain for cinema, and not just horror.”

Elise adds, “I don’t know what’s coming next. All I know is Chucky always comes back!”

Chucky is a rare horror icon whose original continuity remains intact. Moreover, the property survived the shift from theatrical to direct-to-video to television, even with a Hollywood remake in between.

This is all thanks in no small part to Don Mancini, who has been the driving creative force behind the franchise since it began in 1988.

Following the cancellation of the TV show, Mancini posted, “The Chucky franchise has always prioritized story continuity, across different media, for decades. You WILL see your favorites again.”

In the mean time, Chucky: The Complete Series hit Steelbook Blu-ray last month, and the character lives on in merchandise from the likes of Fanta, Hallmark, NECA, Funko, Youtooz, Pix, Squishmallows, and even a 2026 calendar.

Chucky, Freddy Fazbear, M3GAN and The Grabber are all featured in the commercial, with the horror icons descending upon a supermarket. Chucky, Freddy Fazbear, and The Grabber will be featured on Fanta cans this Halloween, and Michael Myers is also getting his own can artwork as well. Myers, however, is curiously not present in the official Fanta commercial. He’s been replaced by M3GAN for the commercial, who seemingly isn’t getting her own can. At least not in the early promotional artwork we’ve seen for the partnership, which you’ll find below.

The only Exclusive Flavor in the mix is Chucky’s Punch, with the other flavors including Strawberry, Pineapple, and Orange. It looks like Chucky’s Punch will also be available in bottles.

It looks like Universal has joined forces with the soda company Fanta to release a line of cans and bottles that feature iconic horror villains including Chucky and Michael Myers!

Leaked images reveal that Freddy Fazbear from Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Grabber from The Black Phone are also getting their own Fanta cans, each one featuring a color and flavor that best suits the character. Chucky’s drink, for example, is titled “Chucky’s Punch,” and the eye-catching label art features colors inspired by the killer doll’s iconic Good Guys outfit.

We don’t know all that much about these Fanta horror sodas at this time, but it looks like at least Chucky’s Punch will be sold in an individual bottle in addition to a can. We’re willing to bet that the cans will be packaged together in a spooky set, but we expect to know more soon.

It’s looking like it’s going to be one hell of a Halloween season this year!

“Chucky” premiered on Syfy and USA in 2021 and ran for three seasons before being canceled last year.

Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, and Billy Boyd reprised the roles from the films, alongside Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Teo Briones, and Devon Sawa.

Shortly after the cancellation, creator Don Mancini said, “The Chucky franchise has always prioritized story continuity, across different media, for decades. You WILL see your favorites again.”

And now that contemporary releases like Bloody Disgusting’s own Terrifier 3 are bringing this musical trend back from the dead, we’ve decided to come up with a list celebrating six of the most memorable horror movie theme songs for your listening pleasure. After all, there’s nothing like a bucket-full of blood and guts to get genre fans in a dancing mood.

For the purposes of this list, we’ll only be considering actual licensed songs rather than cinematic scores or otherwise unrelated music that just happened to play in a scary movie. We also won’t be including the Ramones’ Pet Sematary here in order to give some less popular songs a chance to shine – especially since this 1989 classic still sees frequent radio play in the Year of Our Lord, 2025!

That being said, don’t forget to comment below with your own favorite horror theme songs if you think we missed a particularly good one.

With that out of the way, onto the list…

6. Hunter’s Moon – Ghost

I may be in the minority here, but I greatly prefer David Gordon Green’s bizarre middle chapter of his Halloween trilogy to the other, more serious, entries. It may not have much of a story, but this hyper-violent romp harkens back to classic over-the-top slashers in ways that I find more entertaining than if Green had once again chosen to remix John Carpenter’s work.

And if you’re going to pay homage to a bygone era of schlock, why not get a spooky rock band to produce a tie-in song for your movie? As a huge fan of Ghost, Hunter’s Moon remains one of my favorite musical contributions to a franchise that already boasts kick-ass soundtracks. To be honest, the only reason the song doesn’t rank any higher on this list is the fact that it only superficially resembles its source material.

5. Cat People (Putting Out Fire) – David Bowie

These days, the original Cat People is mostly remembered as one of the main inspirations for the incredible Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, but this highly influential film also inspired a high-profile remake by Paul Schrader in 1982. This modernized (not mention eroticized) retelling of the story had a much bigger focus on music, with legendary composer Giorgio Moroder providing the flick with its sensual score.

However, when the time came to promote the movie with a seductive rock ballad, the one and only David Bowie was brought on to collaborate with Moroder on an atmospheric theme song. While the rock star was ultimately dissatisfied with the cinematic version of this track, it ended up becoming much more popular than the movie it’s based on.

Funnily enough, the song is now more commonly associated with Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds due to the inclusion of Bowie’s remixed version of it during a scene where Mélanie Laurent prepares for a Nazi barbecue.

4. Are You Ready for Freddy – The Fat Boys

Dokken’s insanely catchy Dream Warriors is rightfully remembered as the definitive Nightmare on Elm Street tie-in song, but I’d argue that it’s not the only memorable attempt at promoting Freddy Krueger to music lovers. If you ask me, the Fat Boys’ tongue-in-cheek ode to Freddy is just as fun despite being part of the excessive marketing that turned a once-sinister horror icon into a watered-down jokester.

That being said, I can’t bring myself to complain about a song that features Robert Englund rapping to painfully corny lines like “and if you feel like you’re tired and ready for bed, don’t fall asleep or you’ll wake up dead!”

And if you’d like to hear another novelty rap track about Freddy Krueger, I’d also recommend checking out DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’s rejected Dream Master tie-in song, A Nightmare on My Street! This one actually has the added bonus of incorporating Charles Bernstein’s original theme music into its melody.

3. Fright Night – The J. Geils Band

Boasting what is likely the catchiest chorus on this list, the J. Geils Band’s celebration of Fright Night is almost as fun as the movie it’s based on. From the energetic vocals to the vague lyrics that cheekily explain Charley Brewster’s fight against Jerry, this retro earworm feels like a sincere homage to the film rather than a quick cash-grab.

That being said, Fright Night actually became one of the more popular tracks on this list, which is ironic given the fact that it was the J. Geils Band’s last major hit before disbanding after shooting the music video. That’s a shame, as I would have loved to see them tackle other horror properties in their music!

2. Chucky The Song – Simon Stokes

Featuring cheesy lines like “Chucky, Chucky, go away, you’re too rough when you play,” as well as a weirdly kid-friendly atmosphere, I can understand why this official theme song was ultimately cut from the end credits of the original Child’s Play. Thankfully, it still survives as a somewhat obscure novelty that feels closer in tone to the franchise’s current output than Tom Holland’s original movie.

However, this humorous romp stands out among other entries on this list by being the only track that’s actually meant to sound like it’s being sung by the titular villain. And while Brad Dourif didn’t provide the vocals, Stokes does a great job of imitating Dourif’s growling demon voice as he cheekily threatens audiences with a then-hypothetical sequel.

1. He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask) – Alice Cooper

My personal favorite track on this list, Alice Cooper’s 1986 hit is a perfect companion piece to the film that inspired it. It may not be a literal retelling of Jason Lives‘ plot, but the self-aware lyrics and clever use of Harry Manfredini’s classic “Ki-ki-ki, ma-ma-ma” make it clear that this is supposed to be a new and less serious era for our favorite machete-wielding killer.

The song ended up being so successful that it kind of overshadowed its licensed origins, with He’s Back still being considered one of Cooper’s most popular releases. To this day, a lot of rock fans aren’t even aware that this classic song was originally meant to promote Friday the 13^th Part VI rather than the singer’s generalized love of the horror genre.

Television has reached a curious inflection point where what was once heralded as the medium’s Golden Age has turned into a daunting obligation where there’s far too much content to consume and the lengthy gaps between short seasons is enough to strip away even the most extreme enthusiasm. TV is in an interesting phase at the moment and while many prestige streaming series have struggled, the horror genre has thrived and turned out deeply captivating and creepy material. Television remains a safe haven for the horror genre and 2024 was a strong year for both brand new horror and returning series that are sure to entertain genre fans who are looking for something that will get under their skin.

Here are the 10 best horror television shows of 2024.

American Horror Stories: Season 3, Part 2

Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story has become increasingly cursed and squandered a lot of the goodwill that it established during its earliest seasons, even if there’s still some compelling ideas and strong performances in play. While it’s certainly understandable that some fans have completely written off the franchise, its episodic spin-off has quietly become the superior series and a home for genuinely strong horror that has something to say. American Horror Stories’ third season, which was split across 2023 and 2024’s Halloween seasons, features far and away the series’ strongest episodes. These five new episodes tackle diverse territory between the liminal space horror of “backrooms,” AI clones, boogeymen under the bed, and even a leprechaun bank heist. 

American Horror Story proper is guilty of losing the plot and indulging in camp, but the latter actually feels fitting in American Horror Stories. The spin-off achieves a successful atmosphere where it never takes itself too seriously, but is still able to craft disturbing scares and frightening set pieces. There are still some weak spots among these five episodes, but engaging performances from talented guest actors that include Henry Winkler, Victor Garber, Michael Imperioli, and June Squibb help smooth over the rough patches and evoke a retro Tales From the Crypt energy. If nothing else, it’s exciting to get a mainstream horror series tackling the fringe Backrooms phenomenon. If this happens to be the end of American Horror Stories — which is very likely — it at least goes out on an encouraging note as an anthology series that progressively found its footing.

Joko Anwar’s Nightmares And Daydreams

There’s been an encouraging rise in Indonesian horror over the past five years and Joko Anwar has become a leading name in the genre with impressive projects like Impetigore and Satan’s Slaves and its sequel. 2024 was a busy year for Anwar between his feature film, Grave Torture, and his pulpy anthology horror and sci-fi Netflix series, Nightmares and Daydreams. With so many modern horror anthology series taking a page from Black Mirror, it’s encouraging to see that Joko Anwar’s Nightmares and Daydreams shares more in common with The Twilight Zone and Tales from the Darkside. Joko Anwar is at the helm for the majority of the anthology series’ seven episodes, all of which effectively deconstruct and explore social issues that are common to Indonesia. All seven episodes are set in Jakarta and span over three decades, which creates an engrossing sense of dread that highlights the haunting futility that afflicts these characters. 

Each episode of Joko Anwar’s Nightmares and Daydreams confidently stands on its own. However, one of the series’ greatest joys is clocking the connections between these stories and how certain supernatural threats and concepts overlap. This reaches an extremely satisfying fever pitch in the final episode, which connects many of the ideas that are introduced throughout the season. The anthology series really sticks the landing in a manner that’s not easy and it ends up feeling like an Indonesian horror Avengers when everything is said and done. Nightmares and Daydreams will provoke and petrify, but audiences are also likely to learn a lot about Indonesian urban legends and paranormal activity. 

Teacup

It should come as no surprise that a horror series that’s executive produced by James Wan and directed by some of the most promising emerging names in horror like E. L. Katz (Cheap Thrills, Azrael) and Chloe Okuno (Watcher and V/H/S/94’s “Storm Drain”) is one of 2024’s most enjoyable horror series. Ian McCulloch’s Teacup stars Yvonne Strahovski and Scott Speedman, who lead an accomplished cast of characters whose humble lives are irrevocably changed when their Georgia farm becomes a lightning rod for unnerving supernatural events and perplexing behavior. 

Teacup coasts on the eerie atmosphere and stark visuals that compliment this eerie, socially-minded mystery. Teacup holds many of its cards to its chest and it’s entirely possible that it will lose its way and fumble the landing in subsequent seasons like From and Sweet Home, two other 2024 horror series who couldn’t match the heights of their previous seasons. As it stands, Teacup is still cryptic and chilling storytelling that feels like Lost meets Salem’s Lot.

The Creep Tapes

Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice’s Creep films are disturbing serial killer character studies that are filtered through the personal found footage horror sub-genre. Both films knock it out of the park and audiences have patiently been waiting seven years for a “Creep 3” that completes the trilogy. The Creep Tapes, a six-episode evolution of the Creep movies, is one of 2024’s most enlightening horror productions that proves that an episodic anthology series has more value than another cinematic sequel that returns to Duplass’ unstable “Peachfuzz” character. The Creep Tapes is very careful to not dilute what made the films so effective and it uses its episodic format to deconstruct not just found footage horror, but the very nature of documentary filmmaking and the complex filmmaker/subject relationship. 

There are admittedly some diminishing returns as each episode of The Creep Tapes builds to a similar climax, but this is a series that perpetually keeps the audience on their toes and feeds on tension and unease. “Peachfuzz” adopts a completely new identity in each episode that’s meant to obfuscate his true self, but in doing so the audience gets a progressively better idea of who he really is and what drives him forward. It’s a bold experiment that pays off and helps reinvent the serial killer chamber piece series in a modern way.

Inside No. 9: Season 9

2024 has been particularly kind to anthology horror and 2025 is set to continue this promising trend. However, one program that’s been turning out back-to-back gems for over a decade is BBC Two’s Inside No. 9. Inside No. 9 ended its flawless nine-season run in 2024 and Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s structural masterpiece proved that they saved some of their best stories for last. Each Inside No. 9 episode tells a completely different story with the only connective tissue being that every installment is set in a different “number nine,” ostensibly turning the series into a collection of challenging and genre-breaking bottle episodes. Inside No. 9 has such a clear and passionate love for horror, but it’s also remarkably funny and its ability to adeptly oscillate between witty comedy and pitch black dread is one of its secret weapons. 

Inside No. 9 loves to push boundaries and some of its most ambitious stories feature a silent episode, an entry that’s entirely told through a CCTV feed, one that’s all told through iambic pentameter, and even a live episode. Inside No. 9’s final season continues to flex its stylistic muscles with an episode that’s all filmed through a fixed doorbell security camera. Season 9 doesn’t have any misses. There’s a bleak meditation on the ethical “trolley problem” thought experiment, a foreboding escape room experiment, and an Edwardian gothic horror story. Its final episode is also a sublime meta gift to the series’ long-time fans, but also sure to resonate with any new viewers. Now is the perfect time to binge all nine seasons and experience one of the best and most under the radar horror anthology series of the past decade.

Parasyte: The Grey

Parasyte: The Maxim is an acclaimed anime that offers top tier horror/science fiction storytelling that received an impressive live-action cinematic adaptation by none other than Takashi Yamazaki, Godzilla Minus One’s director. Rather than simply turn Parasyte into a redundant live-action Netflix series, Parasyte: The Grey tells an original story that’s set in South Korea and runs parallel to the original Parasyte. It’s an approach that’s similar to Terminator Zero’s penetration of the Terminator franchise that grapples with comparable ideas and themes, yet in a totally different portion of the world. 

Parasyte: The Grey focuses on a debilitating alien invasion where these parasitic extraterrestrials can take over humans and use these host bodies to wipe out their population. Anyone who has seen a frame of the Parasyte anime understands that its disturbing body horror is one of its strongest assets. The ways in which these alien parasites contort and eviscerate their human hosts is pure nightmare fuel and Parasyte: The Grey rises to the occasion on this front. The live-action series elegantly captures these monstrous transformations and the excessive gore that accompanies their attacks. The six-episode series excels with its Invasion of the Body Snatchers-esque mystery, yet also finds a way to turn this parasitic possession into an inspirational superpower that can heal as much as it can hurt. Parasyte: The Grey leans into broad extremes and turns a vicious alien invasion into B-movie bliss. 

Chucky: Season 3 Part 2

Revered slasher icons like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers continue to languish and get sentenced to purgatory over rights disputes and other bureaucratic red tape, all while Chucky accrues a brutal body count that’s seamlessly transitioned from film to television. The Chucky TV series contains some of the franchise’s best material and while the decision to split season three in half was narratively frustrating, it at least meant that Chucky’s chaotic antics could spill over into 2024. Chucky’s White House-set third season turned out to be a rejuvenating change of pace for the unpredictable horror series and its final four episodes accomplish more magic and murder than most series do in twice as many episodes. Jake, Devon, and Lexy continue their prolonged pursuit of Chucky, who proceeds to cause new levels of mayhem. Chucky’s final episodes expand upon the series’ lore in rewarding ways as Chucky comes to terms with his own mortality and the series does some excellent work with Charles Lee Ray, who receives an excellent showcase in the spirit realm as “murderous ghost” gets added to his lengthy resume. 

There’s endless bloodshed and sublime practical gore effects to appreciate in the second-half of Chucky’s third season. However, one of the series’ greatest strengths remains its earnest beating heart and the empathetic relationships between its central trio of characters. The prospect of Chucky with the launch codes for nuclear missiles and the potential to cause global destruction puts him in a whole new tier of horror villain and is reason alone to give these episodes a watch. Chucky, as a TV series, may have reached its end. However, franchise creator Don Mancini has assured fans that they haven’t seen the last of these characters and that everyone’s favorite killer doll still has a lot more blood to spill.

Oh, and there’s plenty more Devon Sawa destruction, because, of course there is. 

Evil: Season 4

Robert and Michelle King’s Evil took 2023 off, only to return in 2024 with a super-sized final season that ostensibly mashes together their plans for seasons four and five. Evil is The X-Files by way of The Exorcist and Black Mirror and more often than not is superior to all three. Evil very quickly tapped into something special through the infectious chemistry that’s shared between Kristen (Katja Herbers), David (Mike Colter), and Ben (Aasif Mandvi) — a forensic psychologist, a Catholic priest, and a tech expert — who are tasked by the Catholic Church to assess potential supernatural events. Evil’s fourth season adopts a greater focus on tech-based anomalies, all while dark forces prepare for an apocalyptic event that revolves around the freshly-born Antichrist. 

Evil’s farewell year may not necessarily provide answers to every question, but it’s a season that’s unabashedly confident and brave enough to go out on its own terms. It’s fearless television that’s haunting, hilarious, and endlessly human. These final episodes tackle big ideas like a particle accelerator that may or may not be a gate to Hell, djinn-fueled fugue states, and demonically-possessed ChatBots. However, Evil never forgets its initial mission statement or its natural curiosity to help and heal in a world that’s on the cusp of being ripped apart at the seams. Andrea Martin’s demon-stomping Sister Andrea is also truly a performance for the ages that will be missed.

Interview With The Vampire: Season 2

Vampires make up some of the horror genre’s most popular monsters and 2024 alone saw the release of Abigail, Nosferatu, and Salem’s Lot. Audiences were initially skeptical when a serialized adaptation of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire made its debut on AMC in 2022. Now it’s the center of the Immortal Universe and one of TV’s finest dramas, horror or otherwise. Interview with the Vampire’s eight-episode second season is a beautiful expansion of the gothic horror and toxic relationship dynamics that made the first season must-watch television. Lestat (Sam Reid) takes a bit of a backseat role in season two as Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Armand’s (Assad Zaman) relationship develops in destructive ways. Season two also takes Louis and Claudia (Delainey Hayles) to Paris and immerses them among Old World Vampires and their Theatre Des Vampires troupe. 

It’s par the course to turn vampire stories into meditations on abuse and power dynamics, but none have been as delicate and daring as Interview with the Vampire. The season’s climax is truly powerful television that broaches suicide and codependency with the blunt, raw force of a stake to the heart. Interview the Vampire’s third season, which is set to adapt the second book in Anne Rice’s celebrated series — The Vampire Lestat — will hopefully continue to tap into nuanced, emotional horror excellence in 2025. Interview with the Vampire’s second season isn’t just the strongest horror series of 2024, but one of the best pieces of vampire media that’s ever been produced. It sets new, lofty standards for the scary, sexy sub-genre.

Here are eight Election Day horror movies to watch today…

The Dead Zone

Directed by David Cronenberg, this adaptation stars Christopher Walken as John Smith, a young school teacher who slips into a coma for five years due to a car accident. When he comes to, he finds his lady love has moved on and has a new psychic ability that gives him insight into anyone he touches. A genre-bender that streamlines Stephen King’s novel, The Dead Zone might make for the definitive Election Day horror movie to watch thanks to antagonist and Senate candidate Greg Stillson (Martin Sheen). The novel also inspired a TV series that ran for six seasons beginning in 2002.

Omen III: The Final Conflict

The Antichrist Damien Thorn was strategically placed in the care of an affluent American diplomat in Richard Donner’s The Omen, ensuring that politics and horror would be intertwined for the entire franchise. Damien’s upbringing pays off in The Final Conflict, where the Antichrist (Sam Neill) ascends as the US Ambassador to the United Kingdom and plots to thwart the second coming of Christ. While this entry does feature some memorable deaths, it opts for scares via Damien’s political machinations. Damien doesn’t plan to destroy the world with fire and brimstone but through evil policies like controlling the Third World’s food supply.

The Purge: Election Year

As with the Omen franchise, the Purge’s core concept makes any installment an excellent choice to watch on Election Day. This entry continues the action thrills of Anarchy but with an even heavier political slant as it centers around the lethal bid to thwart the Presidential election of US Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell). Roan wants to stop the annual Purge, which spells bad news for the Founding Fathers, who use the annual event to maintain control of the population. They didn’t anticipate that Anarchy‘s hero, Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo), runs her security team. It’s action horror that delivers the propulsive thrills on Election Day.

Land of the Dead

Any of George A. Romero’s zombie movies could apply here, but Land of the Dead particularly captures a post-9/11 America. This sequel centers around the feudal system within the guarded human sanctuary of Pittsburgh. Here, the rich and powerful live in a luxury high-rise called Fiddler’s Green, while the poor live in squalor in the surrounding streets. The fortress town is presided over by corrupt plutocratic leader Paul Kaufman (Dennis Hopper), making for a much more lethal and cunning threat than the zombies, who are simply shambling to find their own place in this post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Bubba Ho-Tep

Don Coscarelli takes a creative approach to addressing the sluggish nature of standard ancient mummies; he unleashes the undead monster upon a pool of potential victims too feeble to outrun it. Bruce Campbell stars as an aged man claiming to be the still-living Elvis Presley. When a reanimated mummy in cowboy gear starts feeding off the residents in Presley’s nursing home, he teams up with former president John F. “Jack” Kennedy (Ossie Davis) to stop it. Coscarelli blends humor and heart for a disarming horror-comedy on aging, mortality, and friendship. This pick is for those who need some good old fashioned escapism today. 

Jaws

Set over Fourth of July weekend, one massive man-eating shark threatens to ruin tourist season for Amity Island in Jaws. It’s up to a local sheriff, a marine biologist, and a shark hunter to intervene in this suspenseful feature from Steven Spielberg that makes everyone afraid to go into the water. This quintessential summer horror classic doesn’t immediately scream “Election Day” until you factor in Amity Island’s mayor. The sleazy politician prioritizes money over constituents, and his refusal to listen to reason or our protagonists winds up getting people killed.  

They Live

“I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And I’m all out of bubble gum.” Roddy Piper stars as drifter John Nada in John Carpenter’s sci-fi action movie, who discovers a pair of sunglasses that allow him to see that aliens have colonized the Earth. More accurately, the shades let Nada notice that “they” have control of the world’s rich and powerful, creating a wide divide between the haves and the have-nots. Carpenter’s lambast of unrestrained capitalism is as scathing as it is fun, with no shortage of memorable moments like the extended fight between Nada and Keith David’s Frank.

Threads

This docudrama broadcast on BBC Two in September 1984 depicted the effects of nuclear war. Tensions between the US and the Soviet Union escalated, eventually leading to the dropping of a nuclear warhead and sending the town of Sheffield into panic, then full-blown destruction. The fallout becomes terrifying as looters get murderous, radiation sickness spreads, and food grows scarce. Cannibalism, famine and disease run wild, and civilization regresses into a more barbaric period. Threads isn’t horror by standard measures, but it’s deeply unsettling nonetheless, so approach accordingly. Harrowing, bleak, and unflinching, this one is an absolute downer.

Bonus: “Chucky” Season 3

It’s not a horror movie, so consider this a bonus. Season 3 of Don Mancini’s “Chucky“ let our favorite killer doll loose in the White House, leaving a trail of guts, glory, and chaos as Chucky terrorized the first family. If you need a full distraction from the news, “Chucky“ fits the bill. Raucous and loaded with inventive kills, some of the wildly entertaining highlights include fantastic guest stars, Brad Dourif in the flesh, and elevators filled with blood. #SaveChucky

From the moment the series was cancelled, “Chucky” creator Don Mancini immediately made it clear that Chucky will be back, and he’s doubling down on that promise this week.

“The CHUCKY franchise has always prioritized story continuity, across different media, for decades. You WILL see your favorites again,” Mancini posted to Twitter over the weekend.

What Mancini is essentially saying here is that no matter what the future holds for all things Chucky, the past – that includes the TV series and the original movies – will not be left behind. Mancini’s tweet seems to be in response to rumors that were swirling last week about the franchise returning with a new movie that would disregard the events and characters of the “Chucky” television series, and it would seem those rumors are very much untrue.

Mancini’s “Chucky” franchise, across movies and television, has indeed always prioritized story continuity, and we see no reason to believe that won’t continue to be the case going forward.

On a related note, Mancini has recently hinted that a new movie is in its “early stages.” Those comments were made back in March of this year, before the series cancellation was decided.

We have no idea what’s next for Chucky, Tiffany and the gang at this time, but one thing’s for certain: if you want to see your favorite killer doll back on screen, you need to demand it.

The #SaveChucky campaign has been going strong on social media for the past week, driven by fans and various fan accounts dedicated to the franchise. The hashtag has even made its way into Twitter’s “trending” tab a few times now, a testament to how passionate the fanbase is for Don Mancini and company’s particular brand of horror-comedy entertainment.

How likely is it to make a difference? Well, that’s impossible to say. But a precedent has been set for cancelled shows to be brought back to life due to fan demand, with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” being a notable recent example of the trend. The series was cancelled by Fox back in 2018 and was shortly thereafter picked up by NBC, where it ran for three additional seasons.

The #SaveChucky campaign comes in the wake of the #RenewChucky campaign that had become popular on social media while we all waited to find out if Universal would be bringing the show back for a fourth season, and the hope now is that either Universal will decide to reverse their decision or a different network/streamer will swoop in and pick “Chucky” up.

The latter option would seem to be the more likely possibility, with series star Fiona Dourif recently suggesting at Terror Con in Marlborough, MA that it’s certainly on the table.

“I have been on the phone with Don. It was a surprise that we got canceled,” Fiona told the crowd. “At this point, what we’re hoping to do and what should be done and would be normal for a show as successful as Chucky’s been – because the ratings were solidly good and reviewed extremely well; the numbers were great at Peacock – is that it would be marketed to other networks.” She continued, “The extent that there could be pressure on the powers that be to have that happen, I think that everybody who is involved in making the show would appreciate that. There’s no reason on earth why it shouldn’t be marketed to other networks.”

For what it’s worth, Don Mancini himself took to Twitter in the wake of the cancellation news to assure that his killer doll will eventually return. He simply tweeted, “He’ll be back.”

Jennifer Tilly tweeted, “Resurrections are Chucky’s specialties and he has many of them!”

When the subject of the cancellation came up, the elder Dourif deferred to his daughter (“She knows more than me!”) to share a response.

“I have been on the phone with Don [Mancini, creator of Chucky],” Fiona began. “It was a surprise that we got canceled. It was released last night. At this point, what we’re hoping to do and what should be done and would be normal for a show as successful as Chucky’s been – because the ratings were solidly good and reviewed extremely well; the numbers were great at Peacock – is that it would be marketed to other networks.”

Fiona Dourif continued, “The extent that there could be pressure on the powers that be to have that happen, I think that everybody who is involved in making the show would appreciate that. There’s no reason on earth why it shouldn’t be marketed to other networks.”

The audience cheered in support of Dourif’s statement.

When asked where the story could go, Brad Dourif teased, “I’m not gonna tell you because it might get done, and it’s brilliant. You’re gonna have to get on the internet and make it happen!”

Fiona noted that there have been talks of Nica possessing a doll, “except I really want to be in the movies! I’ll be a head in a jar and also a doll, because it’s really fun to make the things.”

Alex Vincent recalled that Don Mancini first mentioned a potential series while making Cult of Chucky. The actor, who starred in the original Child’s Play, recalls, “We really loved the idea to begin with to expand the story. When we finally found out that it was greenlit and it was happening, it was a lot of relief that we got through the obstacles it took us to get there.”

“I remember thinking it wasn’t gonna work,” Fiona admitted. “I was like, ‘You guys are gonna make a TV show? Is it one story? How many kills in each episode?‘ I remember not being convinced, and then it just worked so well. I have no instincts. That’s what I learned.”

“The thing you explore when you’re doing a TV series that you don’t explore in anywhere near the depth [with film] is character,” Brad added. “Don pushed Chucky a lot, and all the characters a lot. That was a good thing.”

For what it’s worth, Don Mancini himself took to Twitter over the weekend to assure that his killer doll will eventually make his way back into our lives. He simply tweeted, “He’ll be back.”

Jennifer Tilly similarly tweets, “Resurrections are Chucky’s specialties and he has many of them!” On that note, Don Mancini has recently hinted that a new movie is in its “early stages.”

“Chucky“ Season 3 recently sliced its onto Blu-ray on August 13, 2024. The “Chucky“ Season 3 finale ended with the lovable killer doll breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the fans, officially announcing that, well, he was running for a fourth term. While it appears he won’t get that fourth term, we can likely see him again in feature form… eventually.

“He’ll be back,” Don Mancini promises tonight.

Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Devon Sawa, alongside Lara Jean Chorostecki, Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, and Alyvia Alyn Lind starred in the series created by Don Mancini.

The hit horror series was produced by UCP and was executive produced by creators Don Mancini, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner, and Jeff Renfroe.

Brad Dourif emphasized, “And you should hear the pitch for season four – but you can’t – but that will be even better. He keeps topping himself.”

Fiona Dourif added at the time, “He topped himself with the story concept for season four. I hope to god we get to do it. Yeah, he told me about it on my birthday in a restaurant, and I was howling. I hope we get to do it.”

Both Pennywise and Chucky are getting souvenir cups and popcorn bucket heads this spooky season, Cinemark has announced today, and they’re all now available at select theatres!

Why are we getting Pennywise and Chucky popcorn buckets when new IT and Child’s Play movies aren’t actually scheduled for theatrical release anytime soon? Well, it seems that Bride of Chucky is headed back to theaters this coming October, which at least explains the Chucky cup and bucket. As for Pennywise, he’s back next year in “Welcome to Derry.”

The Pennywise popcorn head will be selling for $29.99, while Chucky’s popcorn head is going for $24.99. The souvenir cups are selling for $15 each and they come with same day refills.

The interactive attraction will invite guests to submit questions for Chucky to answer via a QR code available in the lobby of the theatre, but if this temperamental host doesn’t appreciate the question, guests may end up like his production team who have been eliminated from their position…permanently.

With such haunted houses as “The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy,” “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface,” “Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines” and “Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America,” tapping into guests darkest fears, these experiences will also send them spiraling for a reprise with a selection of tempting treats and drinks. Guests must be 21+ and have a valid photo ID to purchase alcoholic beverages.

Set for release this Halloween season, the Home Depot Exclusive animatronic decoration measures 3.5-feet tall, and it features both motion and sound bites from Brad Dourif!

Home Depot’s official teaser video previews, “Standing 3.5 feet tall, this freckled relic of the 1980s is everyone’s best friend… and worst enemy. He may look innocent enough in his striped shirt and overalls, but play at your own risk. The 3.5-foot animated Chucky is motion sensor activated; his head and body start to move, blink and speak. But he isn’t toying around.”

The decoration will be selling for $199.99 in stores and online from Home Depot, which is more than reasonable for what looks to be one of the better Chucky decorations on the market.

Home Depot has been stepping up their Halloween game in recent years, making headlines with their giant-sized decorations, and this is one of their coolest offerings to date.

Just please stop calling Chucky a “relic of the ’80s,” will ya? He doesn’t like that…
