“Creepshow”: Horror Novelist Christopher Buehlman Pens “The Man in the Suitcase” Episode
Even more “Creepshow” news comes in as Shudder sets forth the first season’s shoot in Atlanta, Georgia.
Production Weekly now adds that horror novelist Christopher Buehlman will pen the episode titled “The Man in the Suitcase”, about a college student who brings home the wrong suitcase from the airport.
19-year-old Justin brings home the wrong suitcase from the airport, and inside the suitcase is a Man with a terrible problem.”
Yesterday we told you that Matt Venne (Stephen King’s “Bag of Bones”, Acts of vengeance, “Fear Itself”: Pelts) will write the “Creepshow” episode “The Companion”, which is based on the 1995 short story by Joe R. Lansdale, Kasey Jo Lansdale, and Keith Lansdale. In that, “13-year-old Harold decides to explore the long-abandoned farm of the late Raymond Brenner, and finds that he’s got a new Companion: a murderous, indestructible scarecrow.”
The first episode to go in front of cameras would be “Survivor Type”, based on the Stephen King story in which a man, shipwrecked on a desert island, reflects on his life and does the unthinkable in order to survive. Greg Nicotero is directing the adaptation.
Comedy writer-director Rob Schrab (Monster House, “Workaholics”, “The Sarah Silverman Program”, “Community”) will be directing at least one episode, titled “Bad Wolf Down”. In it, “A group of World War II American soldiers, pinned down by a Nazi unit, resort to unholy and supernatural means to avoid capture, torture, and death.”
Based on the iconic anthology film written by Stephen King and directed by George Romero, each episode of the anthology series will tell original fun and scary stories, and will be helmed by a different director.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.
Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things), Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.
The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).
Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.
Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.
Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.
In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
