[EFM '12] Fresh Still, Art For ‘Hamiltons’ Sequel, ‘The Thompsons’

[EFM 12] Fresh Still, Art For Hamiltons Sequel, The Thompsons

We’ve landed the first real still and EFM sales art for The Thompsons, the sequel to The Hamiltons.

The Butcher Brothers return to direct the vampire tale that stars Cory Knauf, Samuel Childs, Joseph McKelheer and Mackenzie Firgens.

In the sequel, a bloodbath at a gas station in the desert puts the family on the run, eventually seeing them resurface in the U.K. under a new identity as “The Thompsons.” Desperate for protection in this unfamiliar country, the Thompsons seek out the help of a shadowy underground rumored to be sympathetic to vampires.

The first film has not aged well, and I’m incredibly skeptical as to why a sequel was ever made. Your thoughts? READ MORE

[OMFG] 100 Amazing Modern Gigposters From The Last Five Years

[OMFG] 100 Amazing Modern Gigposters From The Last Five Years

I’ve never really thought of gig posters as being that necessary for a show. Then, when I went and saw Porcupine Tree with Robert Fripp (King Crimson) opening, I received a poster that was made specifically for that show. Now autographed by Porcupine Tree (twice) and framed on my wall, that poster is a reminder of how amazing visual art can be as an accompaniment to music.

Gomediazine has come up with 100 of these posters from the last five years and, wow, some of them are absolutely amazing! I’ve snagged a few for you to check out in this article, but you should definitely click the link at the bottom and see the rest.

‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ Standee an Assault on Your Senses

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Standee an Assault on Your Senses

The main thing I miss about theaters in the ’90s was how I’d walk through the lobby before a movie checking out all of the cool new posters and standees. I’m not sure how it is by you guys, but in Los Angeles most theaters cater to local business instead of upcoming movies, so I don’t get that experience a whole lot, but all I know is that I’d love to have seen the new Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance standee at a theater near me.

As displayed below, it boasts a full image of the darker and grittier Ghost Rider, played again by Nicolas Cage (but actually a bunch of people behind a computer screen with a mouse).

Directed by Crank‘s Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, “still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter – is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy – and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.

Columbia Pictures slated the 3-D sequel for release on February 17, 2012. READ MORE

The Waring Signs of ‘The Darkest Hour’

Summit Entertainment is mimicking the District 9 viral campaign with a series of fun “Warning Signs” from The Darkest Hour created to evoke the new realities the characters face in a post-invasion world, populated by an invisible enemy bent on exterminating all life. The unique alien invaders pose a particularly lethal challenge as they are made up of invisible wave energy with their presence unveiled only via nearby activated electrical systems.

Directed by Chris Gorak, “ ‘Darkest Hour’ is the story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.” The 3D thriller is said to highlight the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects.

You’ll also find the second TV Spot not airing across the country. READ MORE

Dumpy Final International One Sheet for ‘Paranormal Xperience 3D’

xp3d 653011 Dumpy Final International One Sheet for Paranormal Xperience 3D

Rodar y Rodar, the company behind The Orphanage and Julia’s Eyes, are back with more horror with Paranormal Xperience 3D (XP3D, Scars), Sergi Vizcaino’s psychological thriller “about a group of children, each with their own interesting circumstances, who are preyed upon by a mad doctor in an abandoned town.

While we already brought you a look at four pretty crappy international posters, another really dumpy one sheet has made its way online. It’s said to be the “final” poster for the international release.

Angela is a medical student who thinks she is capable of everything. Diana is extremely sensitive and responsive. They are sisters and have something in common, they hate each other. Angela, pressed by the eccentric Dr. Fuentes, will investigate a series of paranormal activities happening in a town called Whisper which has its own legend, a dead murderer, Dr. Amado. Carlos, her boyfriend, Bethlehem, and Jose will accompany Toni. But she left without means of transport, and his sister has a van.

Diana has an odd assortment of epilepsy that she can not control and that makes her suffer constant attacks. His therapist believes that these attacks may be related to his sister. So Diana decides to accompany the group and face their fears as well.

When they reach the village, they discover things that could be interpreted as normal or supernatural. Diana sees the ghost of Dr. Amado after a hypnosis session, Carlos disappears, and the group is consistent with discussions between supposedly supernatural phenomena while the link Diana has with the murderer grows to the point of becoming a murderer. Angela has no choice and must face his sister and her own doubts. Is Diana owned or is it just part of her illness?READ MORE

Four Artistic Takes On ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ Poster!

Four Artistic Takes On Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Poster!

Quite similar to the ones on display at the San Diego Comic-Con this past July, Columbia Pictures has released a handful of rustic one sheets for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The artistic interpretations can be enjoyed after the break.

Arriving in a blaze of fury on February 17, 2012, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor direct this time around and have apparently delivered something much more gritty than its predecessor. As I previously stated, this charred-up and spit out version of Ghost Rider looks beyond rad, while maintaining that comic book atmosphere.

In the successor to the worldwide hit ‘Ghost Rider,’ Johnny – still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter – is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy – and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.

AFM ’11: In Space the ‘Moon’ is Always Full!

Announced at AFM by the Salt Company, Grabbers and Tormented director Jon Wright is heading to space with Steel Moon, a werewolves in space movie that has be cringing until I read the tagline: “In space the moon is always full.” Pure gold. Inside you’ll find the art, with the synopsis below.

High above the earth, the first orbital hotel is about to open. This 7-star boutique resort promises the ultimate in luxury and the best views in the universe. But things take a deadly turn when an ancient contagion is brought onboard and the small band of occupants find themselves in a desperate battle for survival as a werewolf stalks the moonlit corridors.

‘Steel Moon’ is a claustrophobic, stylish, and visceral horror movie in the vein of ‘Alien’ and ‘The Thing.’ The space hotel setting will provide a stunning visual backdrop to a traditional mythic tale of terror that catapults the earthbound werewolf legend into orbit – and beyond.” Andy Briggs, Eitan Arussi, Teresa de Pelegri & Dominic Harari all took a stab at the screenplay. The chilling footage becomes more and more disturbing when the students come upon the bloody dress of an 8-year-old girl in the secluded wilderness, and take it upon themselves to find her. AFM 11: ‘Ex Inferis’ Will Free You From Hell

Opus Distribution has announced Leonardo Araneo’s interesting Ex Inferis at the ongoing AFM, which stars Marco Gandolfi Vannini, Jennifer Mischiati and Roberto Zibetti. Now in post-production, we landed the below art that piqued my interest quite a bit.

Six friends decide to spend their holiday together and rent a manor house in the countryside where they can leave behind the madness of city life. Once there, they befriend a priest, Father Elia, who lives alone in the adjoining church. Very soon, the party mood turns frightening, as strange phenomena, apparently paranormal, begin happening around the group. It soon turns into a nightmare when one of the friends, Giorgio, begins acting as if he is possessed, which the group interprets as being demonic.

While Alessandro, his best friend, tries to find a scientific and rational explanation to the happenings, the other friends appeal to Father Elia for assistance. He feels Giorgio is surely possessed by the devil, and tries to exorcise him. But in the end, what is happening is beyond their ability to understand, and moreover, their possibility to control. Is Giorgio’s possession the sign of a larger, even more diabolical phenomenon about to envelop the world?READ MORE
