Leprechaun: Origins
Again, it’s not that I expected this movie to be good, per se. I just thought to myself: “Surely if they are going to reboot the Leprechaun franchise (of all things) they will at least try.” Well, try they didn’t. Leprechaun: Origins is the definition of laziness and it shouldn’t even be considered part of the canon of the original series. It does have one or two pretty cool deaths (one involving an axe, the other a spine), but the lead actors are bad, the script is poorly written and it’s a cliche story of evil locals (except this time they’re in Ireland rather than backwoods America). Also, the most disappointing thing about this movie is that the press materials made such a big deal about Hornswoggle playing the titular foe, but he doesn’t have any dialogue and is barely seen throughout the entire film. Also, he looks like an orc from The Lord of the Rings had a baby with a cave creature from The Descent. Ugh. This movie is a missed opportunity in every way.
