Life After Beth
I really was excited about this movie because of the stellar cast. I mean come one! You’ve got Aubrey Plaza, Dane DeHaan, Molly Shannon, John C. Reilly, Anna Kendrick and Cheryl Hines. That should be comedy gold. Unfortunately, the movie was essentially a one-trick pony. It stretched a plot that would have been good for a 15-minute short film into 89 dull, sometimes funny minutes. Everyone in the cast seems game and gives it their all (DeHaan and Plaza, specifically), but I just didn’t find anything I was seeing on screen all that interesting. By the time it was over I felt relieved, which is something I shouldn’t feel when a movie ends. Definitely one of the more disappointing ones I saw this year.
