The Ruins
Okay, I get that this one technically isn’t a creature feature, but it is about killer plants so I’m just going to lump it in here. I love The Ruins. While there are some changes from the novel that definitely don’t improve on it (the novel is in my Top 10 Horror Novels of all time, by the way), I think it’s an effective horror film with plenty of turn-your-head-away-from-the-screen moments. Not only that, but the cast is great. The only weak part of the film is it’s ending (again, the book had a much better ending), but it doesn’t destroy the overall viewing experience. I see a lot of people bash this film for being about killer plants (because it wasn’t marketed as such), and I don’t know what to tell you. It’s a film about killer plants. Deal with it.
