The Reef
Another Open Water ripoff (though this one was significantly behind the times on that trend). The kicker, though, is that The Reef is from the same director of Black Water. Using real footage of sharks, rather than CGI or animatronics, the film has an acute sense of realism. Since the shark footage is actually real, there isn’t a lot of blood and gore in the film, but that doesn’t stop it from being incredibly suspenseful. I may be ostracized for saying this, but like Black Water, I prefer The Reef to Open Water. What do you think?
