I Spit on Your Grave (1978)
While The Last House on the Left came first (and is left off of this list due to the inclusion of The Virgin Spring), I Spit On Your Grave may be the most well-known and notorious rape-revenge film in existence. Critically reviled upon its release (Siskel and Ebery named it the worst film of 1980 when it was re-released that year), I Spit On Your Grave tells the story of Jennifer, who goes on a revenge spree after she is gang-raped by a group of five men. It’s not exactly what you’d call a “fun” film, but it is a must-watch for any horror fan.
