Krampus
Sure, the Black Christmas remake trailer already used “Silent Night” in the closing montage of its trailer, but I would argue that it’s used more effectively in the trailer for Michael Dougherty’s Krampus. It actually mirrors the narrative of the film quite well, spending half of its time marketing a dysfunctional family comedy and then spending the other half with the abject terror of the titular demon himself. It’s a festive trailer and the glimpses of those marvelous practical creations in the closing moments are great appetizers for the main course.
