Warm Bodies (January 16, 2013)
Shaun of the Dead may have started the trend of the romantic zombie comedy sub-genre (which continues next week with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), but 2013’s Warm Bodies helped keep it fresh. Adapted from Isaac Maron’s novel of the same name, the film follows R (Nicholas Hoult, A Single Man, X-Men: First Class), a zombie who meets Julie (Theresa Palmer), whom he believes to be the love of his life. It’s a sweet film that was better than pretty much everyone expected it to be, which makes it all the more surprising that it was a January release.

What horror films released in January do you also like? There are plenty of turds out there that deservedly give January the name “The Dump Month,” but they’re not all bad. Let us know in the comments below or shoot me a Tweet if you’d like to discuss!
