I didn’t really like the first Underworld. Yeah, there are some really cool scenes but the majority of the characters just annoy the crap out of me. The 2006 sequel helped out by greatly reducing the number of people encountered through Michael and Selene’s journey, which means we have to spend more time with them and see how they adjust to their new circumstances. At the same time, this is the movie where the Underworld franchise felt like an epic story, like there was more beyond the walls of the coven.
