Just cracking into this list by coming out in 2000, this sequel to the classic 1985 horror anime saw D embark on a journey that took him across new landscapes and against new foes. While the original was a fantastic film in its own right, the sequel was comparably solid. I can’t say that it’s better because I have a lot of nostalgia for the first one but I will fully admit that the sequel is far prettier and fleshes out and explores the world D lives in, something the original pushed to the wayside.
