Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
Okay, this one is pretty damn silly. But at this point in the series, I was just turning my brain off and watching people and monsters beat the hell out of each other for 90 minutes while lots of shit explodes all around them. I’m not too impressed with Shawn Roberts hamming it up all over the place as villainous Umbrella boss Wesker, who employs Matrix bullet-time kung fu against Alice and her compadres Chris (Wentworth Miller) and Claire (Ali Larter), and in the end he’s easily taken down with a shotgun blast and a few execution-style head shots. Instead, for me the prize goes to Jovovich’s smooth combo move involving a pane of falling glass and an attacking zombie dog. The harsh white set exposes the obvious weakness of the CGI monster effects, but it’s still a pretty wicked stunt.
