When the New 52 were announced, one of the most enigmatic titles of the load was Justice League Dark. It was a complete mystery as to how such misfit, lone-wolf style, heroes were going to band together to form a functioning team. With the first arc in the bag it’s become certain that this is a team the DCU needs, they offer a break from the standard hero books, they offer a glimpse into a dark, and insanely entertaining world.
Then again, it’s hard to go wrong when a series stars Deadman, Constatine, Zatanna, and Shade. Milligan has been killing the writing, while Janin’s artwork perfectly compliments the haunting tones of the script. If you haven’t been reading this bad boy, now is the perfect spot to hop on board. Check out the Bloody-disgusting exclusive 4-page preview of Justice League Dark #6 courtesy of your friends at DC Comics. Read on for the skinny…
Update: Story confirmed three months after we originally reported it.
On November 8(!) we were told exclusively that Gulliver’s Travels, Monsters vs Aliens and Shark Tale director Rob Letterman would getting behind the camera for Universal Pictures’ new supernatural horror, Paranormalists.
SYFY is producing the found footage project that follows a group of stoner kids that claim to rid haunted houses of ghosts and poltergeists, only they’re just ripping off a slew of gullible individuals. In an obvious turn of events, they end up in a house that’s actually haunted. READ MORE
Lionsgate has tapped Luke Dawson, who penned the 2008 remake Shutter, to write Subject 17, a new found footage flick to be produced by Mosiac Media Group, Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned..
The low budget horror flick will be found footage and can best be described as Flatliners meets Frankenstein. We’re told that the horror flick is about a group of medical researchers who attempt to reawaken the dead, only to find that they’ve created another monster entirely.
Frankenstein is hot right now, although I’m not sure where this fits in with Lionsgate since they’re distributing the in-production I, Frankenstein. READ MORE
Bloody Disgusting got exclusive word that the Weinstein Company may actually get the long-gestured Kristy off the ground.
We’ve been tipped off that Gary Fleder (Kiss the Girls, Don’t Say a Word ) is now in the director’s chair with a shoot date slated for this coming April. Penned by Tony Jaswinski, the slasher is being pegged as The Strangers on a college campus. It follows a college coed who stays in her dorm during Thanksgiving and is terrorized by four masked assailants on the empty campus — the killers are up against far more than they bargained for.
The Weinstein Company hopes to land Harry Potter star Emma Watson in the lead role of “Justine”, although talks have yet to get underway.
David Kirschner is producing with his David Kirschner Productions. READ MORE

With the film opening in select theaters today, I sat down with Ben Wheatley at the Andaz Hotel this week for a lengthy chat about the genesis of Kill List and the multitude of projects he has coming up.
I found him to be a genuinely amiable and intelligent presence, a guy who clearly loves making movies and is extremely grateful to be doing so.
I highly urge you to go see this film this weekend if it’s playing anywhere remotely near you. While it’s not for everyone (a topic we touch on in our interview), it resonates quite strongly with those who are receptive to it.
If you live in Los Angeles, the film is screening at Cinefamily tonight. The 730PM and 1015PM shows will feature a Q&A with Mr. Wheatley moderated by Devin Faraci. Tickets here.

After Dark Films have begun announcing their new installment of films, “After Dark Originals 2″. A new wave of films targeted to hit theaters this year. First up is Dark Circles, starring Pell James (The Lincoln Lawyer, Zodiac) and Jonathan Schaech (The Doom Generation, Prom Night,Quarantine).
The film is written and directed by Paul Soter, a key member Broken Lizard who performed in (and co-wrote), films like Beerfest, Super Troopers, The Slammin’ Salmon and the horror-comedy Club Dread.
In the film, “When new parents Alex and Penny retreat from the city and move into a place outside town, the stress and massive sleep-deprivation caused by their infant has both of them seeing things in the house that may or may not exist. Persistent sightings of a strange woman has each of them wondering if they are suffering from hallucinations, or if their new home holds a dark, supernatural presence. As their fragile grasp on reality spirals into delirium, Alex and Penny find themselves nearly helpless to deal with the horrific truth of what is really going in this house.”
The press release has a quote from Soter, “Hopefully this will serve as some kind of cinematic equivalent of birth control.” But if you want to hear more about the film from him be sure to check out the exclusive interview we posted back in November.
