There’s Actually Blood In James Mangold’s ‘The Wolverine’!

One element of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that pissed me off to no end was the simple fact that Wolverine never, ever, ever had blood on his hands or claws after viciously stabbing an enemy. His claws remained pristine and shiny throughout the entire film. Along with his healing factor, he also garnered the cleaning power of Mr. Clean. The latest still from The Wolverine shows Hugh Jackman with claws out and they’ve got some blood on them. READ MORE

In an interview with Parade Magazine, Hugh Jackman revealed some nice details about his upcoming film, The Wolverine. Jackman told Parade, “Okay, the movie takes place after ‘X-Men: The Last Stand. Terrence Howard

Terrence Howard Abductor In Warners ‘Prisoners’

Alcon Entertainment has added Terrence Howard (Red Tails, On the Road) to round out the impressive cast that has mobilized for Prisoners, Deadline reports.

The film stars Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo, Viola Davis, Maria Bello and Paul Dano. The cast has responded to the screenplay by Contraband scribe Aaron Guzikowski, and the chance to work with Oscar nominated Incendies director Denis Villeneuve.

The story revolves around a small-town carpenter (Jackman) whose young daughter and her best friend are abducted. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against a detective (Gyllenhaal), a hot shot cop with confidence to burn, assigned to the case.” A project said to have echoes of The Silence of the Lambs and Seven.

Principal photography starts in February with a September 20, 2013 release planned.

Maria-Bello

Maria Bello Joins Long Gestured ‘Prisoners’

Maria Bello (A History of Violence) has signed on to the kidnapping thriller Prisoners, says Deadline.

She will play Grace, the wife of Hugh Jackman’s Keller character in the movie. Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo, Paul Dano and Viola Davis are also in the Denis Villeneuve-directed film.

‘Prisoners’ follows a small town carpenter, Jackman’s Keller, who tries to find his kidnapped daughter and her best friend himself after the police can’t.

Gyllenhaal is the detective assigned to the case – a cop who doesn’t like civilians getting involved in police work.

Production on the movie is scheduled to start early next year and Warner Bros is planning a September 20, 2013 release.

[Box Office] New Dates For ‘The Conjuring’ and ‘Prisoners’

Warner Bros. Pictures has made a major shift for James Wan’s The Conjuring (also going by The Warren Files), taking it out of its January date and pushing it to July 19, 2013. This isn’t bad news at all, but I think WB is playing a dangerous game releasing a horror film mid-summer. Wan, director of Saw, Dead Silence and Insidious, tells this alternate take on The Amityville Horror that’s inspired by the supernatural events that happened in the Rhode Island home of the Perron family. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are playing the investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Lilli Taylor and Ron Livingston will portray the Perrons.

It’s also really exciting to hear that the long gestured Prisoners is finally cast up and about to begin shooting. Things are progressing so quickly that Warners has locked in a September 20, 2013 release! Aaron Guzikowski’s dark tale centers on a small-town man who, after his daughter and her friend are kidnapped and the cops fail to solve the crime, takes matters into his own hands, holding hostage the person he suspects committed the crime. Paul Dano Gets Tossed In With The Other ‘Prisoners’!

Alcon Entertainment’s oft-delayed Prisoners is making a serious escape from development hell. Last week it was reported that Jake Gyllenhaal (End of Watch, Donnie Darko) was in talks to play a detective investigating the kidnapping of a young girl. Now Variety is reporting Paul Dano (pictured above; There Will Be Blood, The Girl Next Door) has joined the cast as well. Hugh Jackman and Melissa Leo had previously been cast.

The film, penned by Aaron Guzikowski, “revolves around a small-town carpenter whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, he takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against the big-city detective assigned to the case.” It’s said to have echoes of The Silence of the Lambs and Seven.

Production is scheduled to begin in early 2013. Alcon is targeting a Fall 2013 release through its output deal with Warner Bros.

First Official Photo Of Hugh Jackman For ‘The Wolverine’

The first official image for The Wolverine, the quasi-sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was released today showing a jacked Hugh Jackman, claws and all. Why is he shirtless? I’m not sure, but it looks badass. Hopefully, there will be a bit more blood this time around.

After being in development for years with various directors and casting announced, it looks like the high profile Prisoners script could finally make the big screen transition.

First announced back in 2009, Hugh Jackman is once again attached to topline Alcon Entertainment’s long-gestured thriller The Prisoners with Denis Villeneuve (Incendies) directing, reports Variety.
