Zombeavers
If you would have told you a year ago that Zombeavers would have been one of my favorite movies of the year I would have laughed in your face. Instead, I find myself laughing with this hilarious, surprising film. This is a very self-aware film that does not wear out its welcome (it’s only 79 minutes without end credits). Yes, there are beaver jokes aplenty but most of the jokes are hilarious (only a few fall flat). There are some great, gory scenes and physical comedy. It’s really hard not to like this film. Maybe it’s because I went in expecting this to be an atrocious piece of film-making, but Zombeavers is surprising in every aspect and definitely one you should see at some point in the near future.
So those are my most surprising movies of the year. Like I mentioned at the beginning, none of these are necessarily in my “Best of 2014” list, (though some are). But let me know some movies you thought were going to be terrible that ended up being alright (or amazing). Sound off in the comments below!
