The Den
If I was ranking this list, The Den would probably be my number one surprising film of the year. Again, this is not one I would have given a second chance had I not been on a missions to watch as many 2014 horror films as possible before I made this list. It looks like just another found footage/webcam film, but it’s so much more than that. This movie creeped me out like no other film this year and I believe it used modern technology very well. I often get annoyed with the use of technology in any film because if always feels so forced (if I hear another MySpace reference I don’t know what I’ll do). Not so with The Den. It’s a creepy, well acted and well written film. Even though the ending doesn’t completely live up to the expectations set by everything that came before it, it’s still worth a watch. It’s on Netflix Instant so watch this one as fast as you can!
