David Berkowitz – Summer of Sam
Spike Lee directed this film about David Berkowitz, the infamous Son of Sam killer (though the film is less about Berkowitz and more about the murders’ effects on various New York City citizens). Berkowitz gained fame in the late 1970s for shooting people in cars with a .44 caliber bulldog revolver in New York City. He would also leave notes to frequently taunt the police about his future plans for murder. Eventually arrested and sentenced to six consecutive life sentences, Berkowitz remains in prison to this very day.
