The Atticus Institute/5 Favorite Possession Movies

I’m going to come right out and say it: possession movies creep me out. As a matter of fact, when I was in post-production on my film, The Atticus Institute, I had a conversation with my sound editor about why the classic “demon voice” is so inherently disturbing. The only theory I could come up with is that it somehow reminds our caveman brains of a predator’s roar; a throwback to when hearing such a guttural and animalistic sound meant a saber-tooth tiger might be preparing to rip your face off. Like I said, it’s just a theory. But what I said about possession films creeping me out? Yeah, that’s pretty much a fact.
Still, that doesn’t stop me from watching – and in many cases, enjoying – movies dealing with possession. Here my five favorites among those I’ve seen.
