PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
This movie was a stroke of low-budget brilliance. Why? Because ghosts are invisible, and invisible means free. It was also genius because it tapped into a fear we probably didn’t even realize we had, and that is, wondering what goes on when we’re asleep at night. Additionally, this movie succeeded in making us question if we really know our loved ones as well as we think we do. During the fast-forwarded segments of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, when we watched as a possessed Katie Featherston stands by her bed, staring for hours – in some eerie, catatonic state – at her boyfriend, it’s impossible to not at least wonder, even if only for a second, if your wonderful and marvelous significant other might not be so wonderful and marvelous after all.
