5. Interest in the series hit an all-time high
When it became clear that P.T. was actually the reveal for a new entry into the Silent Hill franchise, it rekindled hope that the series could offer something truly terrifying once again. While the past several games had their plusses, many of them lost that perpetual, pervasive dread that hung like a miasma over every scene. This was to be our salvation and we couldn’t stop loving it.
From a sheer numbers perspective, pretty much anytime we ran a post on Bloody-Disgusting that was about Silent Hills, you could bet that it was going to be one of the top viewed articles of the day. We couldn’t deliver enough for your ravenous appetites.
Finally, when you combined the names of Kojima, del Toro, and Reedus, you hit audiences that never before gave any Silent Hill game a chance. Sure, you had gamers and horror fans but that doesn’t mean that they wanted to play games. This was going to be the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of getting new people to the series.
