Tainted Love – Dir. Philip G. Atwell
This video just felt like it was trying way too hard to mock the “party” videos of the time. Additionally, it being used as a promotional piece for Not Another Teen Movie feels so against what Manson was all about.
Slo-Mo-Tion – Dir. Marilyn Manson
It may have lots of colors and use blacklight to make everything glow beautifully but that doesn’t make it exciting. Even the interspliced scenes men wearing fake breasts and Manson walking down the street with a naked woman don’t shock as much as it aims for. Visually it’s cool but ultimately feels empty and hollow.
Cryptorchid – Dir. E. Elias Merhige
I never quite knew what to make of this video. Shot in black and white and dirtied so as to appear aged, it’s like the videotape from The Ring. Perhaps it was the inspiration for that sinister killer VHS? Who knows. It’s creepy but I just don’t see a purpose in it.
