I always felt this video had a strange, almost disfigured feel to it. This video captures that very well, creating unique Giger-esque visuals and, perhaps most surprising, bathing Manson in bright white light, which allows us to see him in ways I hadn’t expected.
No Reflection – Dir. Lukas Ettlin
Seeing Manson sans makeup and holding hands at a dinner table so that grace can be said is strange and unsettling in its own right. Adding in a gaggle of rather young looking women, blood vomit, levitating tables, and a crazy food fight, and you’ve got all the earmarks for a solid Manson video.
The Dope Show – Dir. Paul Hunter
This video ushered in the new phase of the band, one that was much more “glamorous” and “ritzy”, and yet still showed that Manson seemed to darken the world around him, not allowing for any natural light. The video matches both the industrial, almost mechanical tone of the song as well as the lyrical story that warns against idolization.
