Five Nights at Freddy’s
Even if you’ve never played the games yourself or even watched someone else play them, if you’re a gamer in 2015, you’re never more than three degrees from Five Nights at Freddy’s, or two degrees if you’re a gamer who’s ever visited YouTube.
These games have blown up in a way that would make Slender: The Eight Pages’ runaway success a few years back seem modest. Usually, a series might start to lose steam around the third installment, but if the 9,000,000+ people who watched the trailer for the third one are anything to go by, that rule doesn’t apply to Freddy Fazbear.
I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything about a movie already. These games seem pre-made for it. A man desperate for cash takes a job working the graveyard shift at a local pizza place where the band of animatronic woodland critters have been known to roam free with murderous intent? Can I reserve my ticket now, or do I need to wait for Hollywood to realize the possibilities first?
